Finished his father’s house in 1900 with a nice bedroom for his parents, a big summer kitchen, an unfinished laundry room and attached woodshed; Referred to his future wife while courting as “my best Hat;” Spring 1916 built two car garage and bought first vehicle (1916 Overland), half of garage used as shop and for blacksmithing;64
Last trip back to Jemtland for 60th anniversary of Sunday School in 1932 when he was 64, his wife 54, sons Edward 19, William 18 and Axel 16;

Immigrated with his father age 43, mother age 36, daughter Elise age 9, and himself, son Carl age 3 1/2 to homestead on a farm on the West Jemtland road; In 1901 Carl built an addition to the house and then married July 13; They were potato farmer; They raised six children and one foster daughter, Delia Nadeau; In 1923, the Olivenbaum family, except Edgar, moved to FL for health reasons; Carl then planted orange trees which he tended for the next 23 years; Carl helped build the New Sweden Baptist Church where he was a deacon; Remembered his father clearing the woods by and building a small log cabin; A frame house was built later and more land cleared; Three of his sons returned from service in WWII;72
