Notes for Margareta Pettersdotter
Immigrated with his husband and youngest son Peter to North Jemtland Road near the Stockholm, ME border;10
1880 “Note from 9/18 letter to Sweden by Jons and Margreta Sodergren, Jemtland: Our harvest is so large you can hardly believe it, but we need more here because so much bran is removed to feed cows and bigs. A lot goes for bread for we bake twice a week and always eat new baked loaves. If they would bake thin bread here 4 or 5 times a year, such grain would be enough for many year. We are concerned that we cannot help (Paul) to come here. It would be very good for him. . . and all who are workers and don’t have a home in Sweden. We got help for Brita. . . and sent her ticket this week. We asked (Paul) to send his daughter Martha with Brita if he can. . . There are two lakes half a Swedish mile from here and lot of fish. . . We have recently received a letter from John (J. J. Sodergren) in Sveg.”45
