Built log home (still standing in 2005 on east side of Route 161 next ot Stockholm/T16R4 border); He and his father cut a path to Madawaska Lake with axes, hauling tree with horses; Operated a steamboat on Madawaska Lake and also rented rowboats; 1899 reported as packing ice in icehouse in sawdust for the summer visitors; Built bandstand near store at Madawaska Lake; Gave rides in his wagon; Barn built close to lake and later moved across the road;
101890-93 club house at Madawaska Lake built by A. F. Ulrich and some men from Caribou for outings; John Sodergren bought the facility and also steamer “Lock Nae Gar;” Said John Sodergren started the first store in a lean-to; Sold to his daughter Mabel in 1914;

45 Lot 16 in Stockholm was settled by John J. Sodergren who arrived in 1884 and he began clearing the farm and building a log home which still stands along Route 161 just before the town line separating Stockholm from T16-R4. The family meanwhile stayed with the Nils Wik family in their log cabin, and that is where August was born. The Sodergren farm has stayed in the family ever since. August married Lena Nelson. Their children are Lynwood, Evelyn, Sylvia, John C., Joyce, Robert and Ronald. John C. married Elna Goranson and raised their children on the farm also: Graydon, Gary, Glenn, Beverly, and Carol. After Elna died, John married Eleanor (Hede) Johnson.
